At least ten people, including Sri Lanka's highway Minister were killed and 50 others injured in a suspected suicide attack by Tamil Tiger rebels near Colombo on April 6. The explosion occurred in the town of Weliveriya in the western district of Gampaha, 30 km from the capital, Colombo, where Minister Jeyraj Fernandopulle had gone to flag off a marathon race.
