Global crisis to sway the US presidential poll outcome

US voters said the financial crisis was on top of their minds as US presidential hopefuls Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain faced the people's verdict on Tuesday. Long lines of people waited to vote at some polls in battleground states, including Maryland. Voters said the sub prime crisis had shaken the voters' confidence. 47-year-old Obama, a first-term senator from Illinois, would be the first black U.S. president.
