California residents have begun 'drought shaming' strangers, posting videos and pictures of water waste on social media with an address. The trend accelerated after governor Jerry Brown mandated an overall 25 per cent reduction in water consumption. Tony Corcoran is one such 'drought shamer'. He posts video on Twitter and Youtube and emails the worst ones to water officials. He says he's collected hundreds of examples, including in the upscale Beverly Hills neighbourhood. The movement is catching on fast, with other residents having begun posting videos and pictures using the social media hashtag #droughtshaming.
