Pope Francis was fed 'simple, straightforward food' during his New York visit, according to the chosen celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich. Even though feeding the Pope would be enough to rattle even the most experienced chefs, the cook says it helped that this particular leader of the world embraces a humility and simplicity that extends from the way he deals with his followers to the food he eats. Bastianich along with restaurateur Angelo Vivolo have prepared and served all of the pontiff's meals during his 40 hours in New York City. The Associated Press got an exclusive tasting of some of the dishes on Francis' five-meal New York menu, which took its cue from the pontiff's healthy fare in Rome. His doctor is reportedly trying to get him to lose about seven kilos.
