Hyderabad man, 24, killed in UK; pregnant wife joined him 25 days ago
Nadeemuddin was allegedly killed by an Asian, according to family friend. The incident came to light after his family members called the management to inform that he did not return home after work.
A 24-year-old man from Hyderabad was stabbed to death late on Wednesday, allegedly by another Asian in a car park in Slough, Berkshire, a close acquaintance of the victim’s family has said. Slough has a large community of people of Indian origin.
Mohammad Nadeemuddin from Hyderabad’s Old City area was found dead by security personnel at the parking of Tesco Supermarket on Wellington Street, Berkshire, where he was employed, according to the information received by his relatives in Hyderabad.
“His parents and his wife who are also staying in London called up the supermarket management when he did not return from the duty till late. The supermarket staff along with the security personnel of the mall checked the area and found Nadeem’s body in the parking area,” Faheem Qureshi, a family friend of Nadeem in Hyderabad, told Hindustan Times.
The post-mortem was done on Friday.
Ian Hunter of the Thames Valley Police said a 26-year-old man from Slough had been arrested by Major Crime officers in Birmingham last night in this case.
“He remains in police custody, the officer said.
“I understand that this would have caused concern in the community, but I would like to offer some reassurance to the public that we do not believe this incident to be a random attack, and that the people involved in the incident are believed to be known to one another”, Hunter added.
Nadeem’s relatives have been told that the involvement of a colleague from the supermarket where he worked, a Pakistani national, was suspected.
Nadeem graduated from a college in Hyderabad before leaving for London in 2012, where he found a job in the supermarket. Subsequently, his parents also joined him.
“His wife Afsha, a doctor, left for London only 25 days ago. She is pregnant and cannot come back to India as rules do not permit her travel,” Qureshi said.
Nadeem’s wife, who is in a state of shock, is undergoing psychological counselling.
Hunter said the victim’s next of kin was being supported by specially trained officers.
“They (Nadeem’s family) cannot bring the body to Hyderabad for last rites. In all probability, the burial would take place in London,” Qureshi said, adding he and a few other relatives were planning to leave for the UK to attend the last rites.
He said he had mailed letters to Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Telangana Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, requesting their help in the relatives travelling to London.
Nadeem is reported to have got permanent residency and was awaiting UK citizenship in the next few months as the process was nearly completed.
