An earthquake of Magnitude 4.1 struck west of Bandar Abbas in Iran on Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

According to USGS data, the earthquake struck 74 kilometres west of Bandar Abbas and at a depth of 10 kilometres.
On Tuesday also, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 hit Iran's southern part.
The earthquake occurred in Gerash, located in the southern part of Iran's Fars province.

US-Iran conflict marks a week of escalation
The earthquake jolts come amid heightened phases of conflict between the United States and Iran, that began almost a week ago when Israel and the US launched strikes on the Islamic Republic and retaliatory attacks followed across the Middle East.
Overnight airstrikes between February 28 and March 1 claimed the life of Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
As escalations continue, several Gulf countries including Kuwait, Oman, UAE and Qatar still reel under probability of more strikes by US and Israel. Residents in Dubai and Qatar on Thursday received alerts on their cellphones, warning them of a potential missile strike, which was later eliminated.
Explosions have been rocking major cities in the Middle East since the heated conflict began, killing at least 1,230 people in Iran, more than 200 in Lebanon and around a dozen in Israel, according to officials in those countries, news agency AP reported.
