US forces ready to protect Guam against North Korea, says White House

During a call with Guam governor Eddie Calvo, US President Donald Trump “reassured” him that “United States forces stand ready to ensure the safety and security of the people of Guam, along with the rest of America,” a statement read.
It said White House chief of staff John Kelly spoke with Calvo separately during an earlier call.
Meanwhile, the United States demanded that North Korea “must stop its provocative and escalatory behavior” early Saturday after Trump stepped up his warnings against Pyongyang and spoke with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping by phone.
