A mudslide caused by heavy rains has killed 10 people and left three others missing in Atenas, a small town in central Costa Rica, the according to the Red Cross.
Rescuers have been searching for the missing people at and around the accident site, but their chances of survival were slim, said Alexander Porras, a Red Cross spokesman.
The rainfall usually reaches its peak in October in Costa Rica.
