19 killed, 12 missing as bus plunges into river in Nepal

At least 19 people were killed and 12 others were missing when the bus they were travelling in plunged into a river in a hilly terrain in north eastern Nepal near the Tibet border.

At least 19 people were killed and 12 others were missing when the bus they were travelling in plunged into a river in a hilly terrain in north eastern Nepal near the Tibet border.

The bus carrying 35 people was on its way to Kathmandu from Jalbire in Sidhupalchowk district when it met with an accident in Sukute, 75 km east of the Nepalese capital at 9.50 am, police said.

They said they have recovered 19 bodies from the site. However, death toll could climb as about a dozen people have been missing after accident, local media reported.

The bus fell down into the Sunkoshi river from a hilly road, police said.
