Initial reports from responding rescuers and policemen said the two airplanes plunged in to the field near the town of Malolos shortly after noon.

A man and a woman were instantly killed in the incident, although it was not clear whether there were other people aboard the two airplanes, police said.

Radio reports said both aircraft took off from a nearby airstrip and apparently were operated by a flying school. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
