Police officials said the incident occurred when Madhesi protesters blocking the border bridge connecting India and Nepal prevented traders from Raxaul in India from bringing goods into Nepal.

Madhesi parties have been blocking the border point, which accounts for nearly 70% of bilateral trade, since September last year to push their demand for changes in Nepal’s new constitution.
