The activists belonged to the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Port, Xinhua reported.
They held a rally Thursday demanding the implementation of their seven demands that include cancellation of a gas export deal with the American oil company ConocoPhillips.
The committee leaders claimed at least 25 activists were injured.
The group's convener, Sheikh Mohammad Shahidullah, said the government has decided to allow multinational companies like ConocoPhillips, "to export 80 percent of our resources".
