Police said here on Saturday Puia, Manga and Thawnga, all Myanmarese nationals, were abducted from a PMGSY road construction site between Lungbun and Chhuarlung under the Saiha police station by unidentified armed men, suspected to be CNA cadres.

The militants, before abducting the labourers, had extorted money from one Zorammawia from his work place at the said road construction site, the police added.

"Since all the three were Myanmarese nationals of Chin tribes, the reason behind the incident appears to be forced recruitment rather than ransom-based kidnapping," a police officer posted in Saiha said.

The victims managed to flee after they had crossed the Indo-Myanmar border.
