Artists mourn Syrian toddler's death, post their tributes

Using hashtags like #KiyiyaVuranInsanlik and #HumanityWashedAshore, artists shared their tributes to the toddler on social networking sites.

Soon after images of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, the toddler who drowned off the Turkish coast, went viral, reactions poured in from across the world for. Using hashtags like #KiyiyaVuranInsanlik and #HumanityWashedAshore, artists shared their tributes to the toddler on social networking sites.

Images of Aylan, showing the toddler clad in a bright red T-shirt and shorts and lying face down in the surf on a Turkish beach, did the rounds on social media throughout Thursday and appeared on the front pages of newspapers in many countries.

Aylan drowned with his mother and five-year-old brother when their boat capsized on a short run from Turkey to the Greek island of Kos, ending their hopes of a new life in Europe. Several of the tributes by artists featured Aylan with a pair of wings.
