The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the trio of attacks on Thursday on the governor's house, police headquarters and a third office used by a well-known private security company official in Tarin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province.

Dr Khan Agha Miakhail, the director of the hospital in Tarin Kot, said those killed included 10 children, one policeman, two women and three men. He says 37 others have been injured in the fighting, which continues.
