A Bangladeshi intruder was shot dead by BSF and four Bangladeshis including two thieves were apprehended by villagers in West Tripura while an Indian was kidnapped by Bangladeshi dacoits, police said today.

A group of Bangladeshi trying to enter Indian territory were challenged by BSF yesterday. The intruders attacked the border guards who opened fire killing one Bangladeshi at Bagdi, a border village in West Tripura district, police said.
In a separate incident, a group of Bangladeshi thieves yesterday entered Gangagatipur, a border village, and were chased by BSF and local villagers. Subsequently, two thieves were apprehended who were identified as Manu Mia and Billal Mia, police said.
However, other members of the group managed to flee and on their way back to Bangladesh kidnapped an Indian from Kailhari village, they said.
The villagers also nabbed two other Bangladeshi when they entered Indian territory, BSF sources said.
A top BSF official said a Commandent level flag meeting is being held today in Mohanpur area to sort out the problems and defuse tension in the area.
