The bomb went off on Saryab Road, a key thoroughfare in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. The explosive device was hidden in a garbage dump near a petrol station, police officials said.

The device exploded when three rag-pickers were sifting through the garbage. They sustained serious injuries and two of them died while being taken to hospital.

Law enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search for the persons who planted the bomb. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
