British nationals urged to leave Benghazi

Britain, today, urged its nationals to leave the Libyan city of Benghazi with immediate effect following a specific threat to westerners.

Britain, on Thursday, urged its nationals to leave the Libyan city of Benghazi with immediate effect following a specific threat to westerners.

"We are aware of a specific, imminent threat to westerners in Benghazi. We advise against all travel to Benghazi and urge any British nationals who remain there against our advice to leave immediately," British Foreign Office advised in a statement, Xinhua reports.

It also advised against all but essential travel to Tripoli, Zuwara, Az Zawiya, al Khums, Zlitan and Misrata, and the coastal towns from Ras Lanuf to the Egyptian border

"We cannot comment further on the nature of the threat at this time," the statement added.
