"Everything is calm and returning to normalcy," the premier said in his regular on Sunday television address.
Abhisit said that city authorities were cleaning up the rally zone in Bangkok's top retail district which was forcibly cleared last week after a six-week occupation.
"Traffic and everything will return to normalcy on Monday. Government agencies and schools will reopen," he said, referring to measures laid down to keep civilians off the streets as troops clashed with "Red Shirts" protesters.
