Defence Minister AK Antony concluded a “successful” visit to the United States on Wednesday with meetings with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley.

“We want a strong, stable, democratic Aghanistan,” Antony said. “We are not involved militarily there, but we will support reconstruction.”
The minister denied reports that his visit was connected with defence procurements.He has thanked the American officials for the U.S. role in securing a waiver from the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
Antony was accompanied by the defence secretary and the director-general (acquisition), among others. It was the first visit to Washington by an Indian minister after the NSG decision.
