Prime Minister Naoto Kan on Saturday told China's President Hu Jintao of Japan's "firm stance" on disputed islands that have triggered a feud between the two nations, a Japanese official said.

"Prime Minister Kan told him about Japan's firm stance about Senkaku," Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Tetsuro Fukuyama said, referring to the East China Sea islands which touched off a two-month territorial dispute.
