“I don't think anybody thinks this is a bluff or a fake, but people don't know what's going to happen,” said Scott Allen, a reporter who has worked at the Globe for 16 years. The Globe's owner, The New York Times Co., threatened to close the 137-year-old newspaper, according to union leaders. The Times Co. gave the unions until May 1 to agree to cutbacks that would save $20 million in annual expenses.
