Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneen Aslam told BBC on Tuesday that Pakistan stands in need of safe nuclear energy in the wake of its fast growing economy. Pakistan wants that it acquires resources of safe nuclear energy, she added, according to the media report.

The Financial Times report that Pakistan is holding talks with China to purchase six nuclear reactors is "not correct," she said.

The FT said these reactors will be used to produce over 4,000 megawatt electricity.
