Pakistan ready to help India in safeguarding CWG, says Malik

Congratulating India on the holding of Commonwealth Games, Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik today said it was committed to help the host country in safeguarding the security of the event.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik told Home Minister P Chidambaram during a telephonic conversation on Wednesday that any real-time intelligence shared with Pakistan will be "taken seriously and acted upon".

Official sources said during the conversation, Malik congratulated Chidambaram on the holding of the Commonwealth Games in India and wished him good luck for the event.

He assured Chidambaram that the Pakistan government is committed to help India in safeguarding the security of the Commonwealth Games, the sources said.

India, especially Delhi, is on high alert as intelligence agencies suspect that terror elements based in Pakistan may try to disrupt the Games.
