An earthquake with a 6.1 magnitude struck off Taiwan late Sunday, the United States Geological Survey said but there were no reports of damage or casualties.
The underwater quake hit at 2028 hrs IST and was centred 188 kilometres south of Tai-tung in Taiwan, the USGS said, at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Taiwan's Seismology Centre said the quake's magnitude measured 6.3 on the Richter scale at a depth of 44.5 kilometres.
"As the quake's centre was pretty far away from Taiwan, it was little felt by residents here," an official from the centre said.
