Three persons, including two crew-members, were killed on Tuesday when a Russian assault helicopter crashed in country's Volga region of Saratov.

"The Mi-24 helicopter crashed at 11:45 hrs local time (14:15 hrs IST) during the routine flight 18 km from 'Pugachev' airfield in Saratov," Russian Air Force spokesman Col Vladimir Drik said.
The rescue team recovered the three bodies and flight recorder from the charred remains of the ill-fated chopper, he said, adding, a high-level investigation team has been rushed to the site for probe.
The Mi-24 gunship has a two-member crew and capacity to carry up to eight passengers.
The gunship, codenamed HIND by the NATO, was widely used during Soviet war in Afghanistan and Russian campaign in Chechnya.
