The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) told EFE that the consignment was seized on Friday from two trucks at a parking lot in Santo Domingo after a tip off.

The Santo Domingo town is in Heredia province, some 15 km north of San Jose. No arrest has been made so far in the case.

According to an official estimate, about 97 tonnes of cocaine have been seized in the country since May 2006, when the current government took office.
