The Delhi Development Authority has proposed 35 new projects and seven new housing-related developments among other initiatives in its budget for the financial year 2017-18.
The projects will cost the agency ₹ 8,415 crore.
Apart from new schemes, the authority has included a few old projects which were proposed last year too in the latest proposals. Schemes such as development of urban extension roads at four places in Rohini, two integrated freight complexes at Ghazipur and Narela were part of the previous year’s budget proposal.
“The DDA is expected to incur ₹3,557 on housing and shopping complexes and ₹750 crore have been earmarked for land acquisition,” said a DDA official.
“This year, the authority will take up several new projects. The list includes construction of four community halls, one each in Rohini and Dwarka, and two in Kondli. Forty housing schemes are already underway at Dwarka, Jasola, Rohini, Vasant Kunj, Narela, Jahangir Puri, and Kondli. Other development schemes are going on at Rohini, Narela and Bakkarwala,” the official said.
Under the new housing schemes, the DDA will build more than 16,000 homes, 33% of which will be for high-income groups.
Total 16,584 flats will be built in areas such as Vasant Kunj, Dwarka, Rohini, Preet Vihar, Phazulpur, Mandawali and Khichdipur had got all the clearances, he said.
“Emphasis will be on Aravali biodiversity park, Yamuna biodiversity park and three other locations at Tilpath Valley, Jharoda Majra and Wazirabad,” he said.
During the budget meeting on Friday, which was chaired by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, plots have also been indentified for relocation of residents of Trilokpuri. This will pave the way for constructions on Delhi Metro’s phase III construction on Mukundpur to Shiv Vihar corridor as these were coming in the way.
In a major relief to dwellers of Kathputli colony, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has decided to allot accommodation to additional families under in-situ development project by the extending its cut-off date from January 31, 2011 to January 1, 2015.
A senior DDA official said it means whoever will present valid and genuine residential proof up to January 1, 2015 would be eligible for accommodation.
“The cut-off date has been changed according to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (housing for all) of the Centre and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) guidelines. Slum dwellers submitting residential proof up to January 1, 2015 will also be accommodated but this is subject to verification,” he said.
Online sanction of building plan
The Development Authority has decided to make building plan sanction procedure online and also simplify it by introducing a common application form for ‘occupancy-cum-completion certificate’ as per the mandate of new Building Bylaws 2016.
All agencies are now integrated under the common application form such as Airports Authority of India, municipal corporations, Delhi Jal Board, Department of Forest and Wildlife – GNCTD, Geo Spatial Delhi Limited, Delhi Fire Services, National Monuments Authority, Office of the Labour Commissioner of Delhi government, and Delhi Pollution Control Committee.
“One will not need to apply for seeking various approvals from different agencies separately. This common application form will suffice,” said a senior DDA official.
