Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid by militants in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.

Militants’ movement was observed by the Army along the Line of Control following which a gun battle ensued when the infiltrators were challenged by the security forces.

A search operation has been launched and further details were awaited, said an army official.

Four militants were killed by security forces during infiltration bids in Naugam sector last week while they were trying to sneak into the Valley from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
