Watch | White Rhino stuck in a tyre, freed after four hours
The adult male rhino, called 'Mark', was seen in a park in Zimbabwe with his nose and horn stump wedged into the tyre at around 10 a.m. Mark struggled in vein for four hours. Later, with the help of a tranquiliser dart, Dr. Lisa Marabini and Dr. Keith Dutlow from AWARE Trust and park rangers were able to remove the tyre and free Mark unharmed. Mark was probably trying to feed on some vegetation growing through the middle of the tyre. White rhinos are considered as “near threatened” due to illegal poaching threatening the species.
