Bhopal: Section 144 imposed in view of civic polls

With announcement of municipal elections, DM Nishant Warwade issued orders to impose Section 144 of CrPC. Fireworks have been banned in rallies, assemblies and other political programmes.

With announcement of municipal elections, district magistrate Nishant Warwade issued orders to impose Section 144 of CrPC on Tuesday. Fireworks and crackers with loud noise have been banned in rallies, assemblies and other political programmes. This would be applicable on marriage processions as well.

The order specifically mentions that no one would be allowed to sloganeering hurting feelings or sentiments of any community or religion. Distributing pamphlets with objectionable content that could hurt followers of any religion or bring communal discord have been also banned.

Under the orders, the use of educational institutes, government offices, and government's rest house for political programmes would remain prohibited. Besides, the use of loud speaker would be allowed with permission only, district magistrate has ordered.

The collector has also ordered to all house owners to provide information about their tenants at the nearest police station. Information about people staying in house as domestic help should also be provided. Hotel owners have also been informed to keep details of people staying in their hotels.
