Engineering student among 3 held in Bhopal for thefts

The Habibganj police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of three persons, including an engineering student. Police have seized valuables worth Rs 5 lakh 50 thousand from them.

The Habibganj police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of three persons, including an engineering student. Police have seized valuables worth Rs 5 lakh 50 thousand from them.

The accused were identified as Suraj Singh (19), a resident of DIG Bunglow, Jitendra (22), a resident of Kargil Colony and Atul Raikwar (19), a resident of Radhakrishna Colony, Chola Road.

Addressing a press conference at Habibganj police station, chief superintendent of police Jayant Singh Rathore said, "Police arrested Suraj and Jitendra from Subhash Excellence School tri-section.

During interrogation, the duo admitted to have committed 11 thefts that include two-wheelers, household things and other valuables." The accused also told police the name of their accomplice Atul Raikwar. Jitendra and Atul were proclaimed offenders in some cases.

An engineering student of RKDF College, Suraj, hails from Gujarat, had married to a girl a few months ago and to fulfill basic needs, he joined the gang.

Another gang of thieves was arrested by Jehangirabad police. The accused include Rohit Patil, Deepa Raikwar, Nihal Meshram and Vishal Thakur. They were committed several theft and loot.
