"If need be, power will be supplied to the people through short-term purchases," it was informed at the review meet.

The power supply was disrupted in many parts of the state during the last few days due to poor rain and beginning of irrigations. The situation is likely to aggravate in the ensuing festival season.

However, a government release has claimed there has been an improvement in the situation and in the next 5-7 days, 8000 MW power will be supplied in the state.

Energy minister Rajendra Shukla and principal secretary (energy) Mohammad Suleiman were also present at the meeting.
