Gangraped, girl sets self on fire, critical

A gangrape victim tried to end her life by immolating self at Barauna village of Gohad block yesterday. The girl received critical burn injuries and was admitted to Jayarogya hospital in Gwalior.

A gangrape victim tried to end her life by immolating self at Barauna village of Gohad block on Thursday. The girl received critical burn injuries and was admitted to Jayarogya hospital in Gwalior.

Gohad sub divisional officer of police ( SDOP) Amarnath Verma said 16-year-old minor girl had gone to attend to nature's call where Shyamu Singh Tomar, 22, and Karu Singh Sikarwar, 23, made the girl hostage and raped her. Both the accused later fled from the village.

The girl returned to her home in depressed mood but did not tell her parents about the incident. Later, she set self on fire by pouring kerosene on her body. The girl received critical burn injuries and was taken to Gwalior immediately. When she gained consciousness her parents asked her why she took such step. The girl then told her parents about the incident.
