The police have arrested her boyfriend for the murder. The accused, Sandeep Shukla, allegedly shot the girl because he had a disagreement while her while discussing the future of their relationship.

The incident sparked off protests in Rewa on Sunday. A call for bandh had already been given. Scores of youths took to the streets to protest against the incident.

The police cane-charged the protesters and rounded up some of them. Opposition parties alleged that law and order situation in Rewa has virtually collapsed. The police are interrogating the accused.
