HC tells governor to give RTI petitioner copies of reports sent to Centre

The Madhya Pradesh high court has directed the state governor’s office to provide the petitioner, within one month under RTI, the copies of reports sent by the governor to the Union government over situations in Madhya Pradesh.

Justice KK Trivedi disposed of the petition filed by Bhopal based RTI activist Ajay Dubey in this matter.

Dubey moved the high court after the copies of reports sent by the governor to the Union government from time to time was not provided to him despite the order of appellate authority ( RTI) of governor’s office of February 23, 2012.

Since the post of state information commissioner is vacant, the petitioner has to move to the high court as there was no further authority to appeal.

The petitioner also written to governor Ram Naresh Yadav over non- compliance of the RTI order and the information sought by him is not provided.

The information officer in governor’s office, on December 29, 2011, denied furnishing information sought in the application stating that the subject on which information is sought is not clearly mentioned.

Dubey filed the application in this regard on January 1, 2011 with the information officer in governor’s office.
