Human Rights Commission slaps notice on Shivpuri DM, SP over rape case

The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a 50-year-old person sexually assaulted a two-year-old girl, who was struggling for life at a hospital in Gwalior.

The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that a 50-year-old person sexually assaulted a two-year-old girl, who was struggling for life at a hospital in Gwalior.

The incident, which happened in Karera Police Station area of Shivpuri district on March 8, was reported by HT.

The NHRC has observed that the contents of the report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights.

Accordingly, it has issued notices to the district magistrate and superintendent of police, Shivpuri, calling for reports within two weeks. The district magistrate has also been directed to inform about the steps taken for providing treatment to the victim.

The girl was admitted to the district hospital but when her condition deteriorated, she was referred to Gwalior.
