Man beaten up, robbed of cash, LED TV; 4 held

The city police have arrested four people for robbing a car- borne person in Bairagarh on the night intervening Monday and Tuesday. The victim, Rakesh Banke, a resident of Indore, was on his way to Bhopal, when a car dashed his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) from behind.
Four people, who were travelling in the Swift car, waylaid Banke, beat him up, took the LED TV kept in the four-wheeler, and later forced him into their car and brought him to Bairagarh. Banke was accompanied by one, Shubham.
The accused Trilok Kishnani, 36, Vishal Pamnani, 21, Kunal Ahuja, 20, and Kamlesh Lalwania, 28, all residents of Bairagarh, told Banke that he was responsible for the mishap and damage to their car. The incident had occurred at the bypass near Khajuri.
The assailants demanded Rs 50,000 from him. Banke’s companion Shubham was also beaten up. The accused forcibly took him to an ATM where he was made to draw Rs 15,000. The accused took the money as well.
Later, they allegedly took him around, while keeping him confined in a car. They took him to different areas while driving the car at night.
Later in the night, Banke was let go. On way to police station, he met the station officer (SO) Deepak Khatri. The police subsequently registered an FIR and launched a hunt for them.
The patrolling police personnel were also alerted and the message was flashed on the wireless. The accused were arrested finally. The TV set and Rs 15,000 cash were recovered. The car used in the crime was also seized.
All the four people have no previous criminal record. The accused have been booked for robbery, abduction and illegal confinement.
They are being interrogated. The complainant lives near Ring Road in Indore. He works with a private company and was coming here for official work when the incident occurred.
