Man tries to kill woman for resisting rape bid in Bhopal

A man tried to kill a woman by strangulating her when she resisted the rape attempt in Bagh Sewania in Bhopal on Wednesday. The woman is undergoing treatment at JP Hospital.

A man tried to kill a woman by strangulating her when she resisted the rape attempt in Bagh Sewania in Bhopal on Wednesday. The woman is undergoing treatment at JP Hospital. Her condition is stable.

According to police, the accused Dilip Singh Jagat, 28, a resident of Vishwakarma Nagar, went to the 21-year-old victim's house, who lives in the same locality. As the victim considered him as brother, she allowed him to enter the house.

The woman's husband had gone to buy grocery. Finding her alone at home, the accused tried to rape her. When she resisted, the accused strangulated the woman. As she raised an alarm, the neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her. The accused, however, managed to escape.

As the victim had been strangulated, she had got unconscious after the incident. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to JP Hospital. Police said that a case had been registered against the accused and investigation was on. Jagat has been detained and is being interrogated, said police.
