Secret Superstar featuring Zaira Wasim in the lead role is the story of an aspiring teenager who wants to make it big in the world of music.
Aamir Khan’s love affair with the Chinese box office continues with Secret Superstar. The film is breaking records in China and making the producers, one of them is Khan himself, happier. The film has crossed the Rs 750-crore mark in the country. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted the film’s business figures.
Secret Superstar featuring Zaira Wasim in the lead role is the story of an aspiring teenager who wants to make it big in the world of music. Ultimately, she finds a mentor in Aamir Khan’s musician and comes out of the shadows to shine bright at a big musical event.
Secret Superstar isn’t the first Aamir Khan film to break barriers in China. His 3 Idiots and PK did sizeable business there, but Dangal turned out to be the real deal. The film based on a real-life Haryana wrestler earned more than Rs 1500 crore in China. In fact, it became one of the top five highest grossing non-Hollywood films in China.

Directed by Advait Chandan, Secret Superstar opened to mostly positive reviews in India, but failed to go beyond the Rs 60 crore line, but all that is compensated now.
It’s high time Bollywood should start focusing on overseas markets with more keenness. Who knows one day Indian films may end up in top highest-grossing films in the world!
Next to release in China is Salman Khan’s 2015 hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film will release on 8,000 screens on March 2. This is two and a half years after it became a worldwide hit with approximately $94.5M in global box office.
