Actor Arjun Kapoor has said that 2018 wasn’t “his year” and expressed hope that this year will be better. Revealing that his much-delayed Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar will release right after India’s Most Wanted, Arjun opened up about experimenting with his roles. Raj Kumar Gupta’s India’s Most Wanted is inspired by a true story of how a special team nabbed a terrorist accused of serial blasts.

In an interview to Mid Day, Arjun said, “2018 wasn’t my year, so I am hoping that 2019 is the year for me.”

Talking about experimental cinema, Arjun added, “Now, one can’t think in terms of a hero or villain. It’s the best time to experiment because directors and scriptwriters are coming up with brilliant ideas. It’s about taking the right chances and in the process, even if you fail, you learn from it. I am here today because the audience wants to pay to watch my films.” Despite having shared trailer, teaser and posters of India’s Most Wanted, the makers have concealed the identity of the actor who is playing the terrorist, the titular ‘India’s Most Wanted’ in the film. Is Arjun playing the role? We can only speculate.

He also revealed how he bagged India’s Most Wanted. “When I called to congratulate him on Raid [2018], he told me that he wanted to share a story. I read the story on Valentine’s Day last year and agreed to be part of it. I totally went with his conviction.” India’s Most Wanted is slated for a May 24 release.

Talking about the release date of Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Faraar, Arjun told the tabloid, “Sonchiriya and Luka Chuppi [blocked the date] that we were supposed to come on. So, that date was cluttered. Since India’s Most Wanted was already slated to release on May 24, we didn’t want to shift it to accommodate this one. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar will release immediately after India’s Most Wanted; Yash Raj Studios [producer] will announce the date soon.” The film also stars Parineeti Chopra.
