Actor Arjun Kapoor, who survived criticism about his weight just before entering the industry, admits that he was a bit apprehensive when he heard the script of Gunday, as it had several running scenes with a far fitter co-star, Ranveer Singh.
“In the initial days, Ranveer and Arjun had a couple of scenes in which the actors had to run together. Apparently, Arjun would start panting within the first minute and he realised that he needed to work on his running to match Ranveer, who has always been an athlete,” says the source.
So the Ishaqzaade (2012) actor decided to build his stamina. “Arjun started training extensively. Initially, he just began to run for a longer duration,” says the source. That’s not all. The young star also needed to act while running, which was easier said than done. “In addition to that, he underwent strenuous training to be able to match Ranveer’s stamina,” says the source.
When contacted, Arjun confirms the development. “Running in a film is an art that needs to be learnt and mastered. On the last day of the shoot, when I was able to run neck to neck with Ranveer, I was happy that I had finally achieved something,” says Arjun. The film, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, also features actor Priyanka Chopra.
