Ranveer Singh, his parents and in-laws are all in London to attend the unveiling of his wife Deepika Padukone’s Madame Tussauds wax figure. The couple had left for England a day prior. Deepika had announced that she’d be getting the wax treatment in July, 2018.
The unveiling was streamed live on Instagram, and the video shows both the Padukones and the Bhavnanis posing next to the statue. Ranveer can be seen circling the wax figure with a look of admiration and shock on his face. “Can I take her home,” he asked. You can check out stills from the event here:
Thursday was a big day for the actor. She was also featured on the cover of American Vogue, along with Avengers star Scarlett Johansson and Korean actor Doona Bae. The actors were three of 14 international stars to be featured in the April issue of the magazine. Others include James Bond actor Lea Seydoux, The Crown actor Vanessa Kirby, Baby Driver actor Eiza González, Elizabeth Debicki, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Golshifteh Farahani, Liv Lisa Fries, Hera Hilmar, Bruna Marquezine and Alba Rohrwacher.
Announcing her wax statue last year, Deepika had said in a video, “It’s fun, exciting and in a way I feel a lot of gratitude because you know when you give your fans a little more than just the movies, then it’s really, really special. I hope they enjoy it as much as we enjoy creating it.”
She said that she had first visited the museum as a child, with her parents. To get the call to have her own statue exhibited made her “Very, very excited.”
“The only time I visited Madame Tussauds was in London when I was very little with my parents. That memory has sort of stayed with me, obviously. And then to receive a letter and now to be a part of that, and to actually experience what goes into making these wax figures. I think Madame Tussauds is so iconic in so many ways so it’s really special,” she said.
