Irrfan Khan is currently in London, undergoing treatment for Neuroendocrine tumour.

Even as Irrfan Khan fans await news about his health and return from London, a viral picture has triggered rumours that the Bollywood actor is doing fine and may soon return to India. In a picture posted on Twitter and Instagram, a man resembling Irrfan is seen sitting in a stadium.

Irrfan is suffering from neuroendocrine tumour and is undergoing treatment in London.

A Pakistani sports journalist Zainab Abbas shared the photo, with credit displaying ‘M Furqan Bhatti’, for the image and claimed it is Irrfan watching the recent match between England and Pakistan at the Lords Stadium in London. “Pic shared by @Furqan013 - there’s actor Irfan Khan enjoying the match at Lord’s #ENGvPAK,” Zainab tweeted. The match took place on May 27.

A representative for Irrfan refused to confirm or deny the authenticity of the picture. Efforts to reach Irrrfan’s family went unanswered.

Irrfan announced his diagnosis in March this year when he took to Twitter after days of speculation about his health and wrote, “Life is under no obligation to give us what we expect: Margaret Mitchell. The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about. Learning that I have been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour as of now has now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumours that were floated NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research :-) To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell.”

Calling him a warrior, Irrfan’s wife Sutapa later wrote on Facebook, “My best friend and my partner is a ‘warrior’ he is fighting every obstacle with tremendous grace and beauty. I apologize for not answering calls msgs, but I want all of you to know I am truly humbled indebted for ever for the wishes prayers and concern from all over the world. I am grateful to god and my partner for making me a warrior too. I am at present focused in the strategies of the battlefield which I have to conquer. It wasn’t and isn’t and is not going to be easy but the hope ignited by the magnitude of family ,friends and fans of irrfan has made me only optimistic and almost sure of the victory. I know curiosity germinates from concern but lets turn our curiosity from what it is to what it should be. Lets change the leaf. Lets not waste our precious energies to only know what it is and just prey to make it what it should be. My humble request to all of you is to concentrate on the song of life, to dance of life to victory. My family will soon join in this dance of life. Thank you all from bottom of our heart . Sutapa irrfan babil ayaan.”

Recently, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar had confirmed that Irrfan is well and on his way to recovery. “I’ve been speaking to both Irrfan and his wife (Sutapa Sikdar), he’s responding well to the treatment and trying to cope with the knowledge that he’s battling neuroendocrine tumour by treating the recuperation in Europe like a short and unexpected holiday. I’m planning to visit him next month. We hope to roll by the year-end (the Udham Singh biopic), but will wait till Irrfan is ready to shoot,” he told Mumbai Mirror in an interview.
