On late actor Sridevi’s 55th birth anniversary, husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor could not hold back their tears as they remembered her achievements and the love she showered on them. Sridevi’s family was at a special screening of Mr India at Films Division in New Delhi where Boney Kapoor and Khushi and Janhvi talked about the actor. Boney got very emotional while talking about his beloved wife who died in February in Dubai.
“My love story with Sridevi is an open book. Whatever matters of the heart that can be shared is all in the public domain. What is most close (about her) will remain in the heart. That’s my support system for life,” Boney said while talking about his late wife. Boney said his children, Arjun and Anshula from first wife Mona, too have been his strength after Sridevi’s death. “The way they have accepted Janhvi and Khushi... That has made me feel very relieved. My all four children are my strength,” he said.
“Today this vacuum, this void cannot be replaced but the good wishes and the goodwill that she has left behind is something that we can live with... She is with me, in my memories...with my children,” he said about Sridevi with a heavy voice as Janhvi looked at her father to give him support. However, even Janhvi could not help getting emotional when others spoke about the greatness of her late mother.
On Sridevi’s birth anniversary, family and friends from Bollywood shared heartfelt messages for the actor. Colleague and brother-in-law Anil Kapoor shared a tweet: “A true star that shone brightly on-screen & lit up the lives of everyone she touched. Not a day goes by when we don’t miss you Sri. We see your reflection in #JanhviKapoor & #KhushiKapoor everyday. You live on in our hearts & minds..” Janhvi also shared an adorable picture with her parents on the occasion. The 21-year-old took to social media to post a childhood picture of her as a child in her mom’s arms. Niece Sonam Kapoor also shared a special throwback picture of the two sharing a laugh.
Reminiscing his love story with Sridevi, Boney said it took him 10-12 years to win her heart. “I fell in love with her when I saw her for the first time on the screen. It was one sided love since the beginning. I chased her in the sense that I went to Chennai to sign her but unfortunately she was not available at that time. I was in awe of her, her work,” he said about Sridevi.
Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan in 1963, Sridevi was known for her work in Hindi movies like Chandni, Lamhe, Mr India, Chaalbaaz, Nagina, Sadma, and many more. The Padma Shri awardee had also made a mark with her stellar performances in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada films.
