Lata Mangeshkar called Atal Bihari Vajpayee ‘Dadda’ fondly.

Iconic playback singer Lata Mangeshkar has dedicated a previously unreleased song to late former prime minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee. Vajpayee who passed away on Thursday. “In understanding the lives of great men, I found that their victory was over themselves. The one person who reflected this was Atalji,” Mangeshkar said in a statement.

Fondly calling the former PM ‘dadda’, she added, “His evolved and spiritual appreciation of the two most profound realities of life and death put him at peace with himself. He very gracefully embraced the harsh realities and rose above them. An unparalleled leader but to me, he will always be my ‘Dadda’ In his memory, I humbly bow down.”

Shortly after Vajpayee’s death, she had expressed condolences on Twitter.

Several personalities from the world of films mourned his death . Actors Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Dhanush tweeted their condolences minutes after former prime minister’s death was announced. Others who wrote fondly about Vajpayee include the iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar, and actors Boman Irani and Randeep Hooda, who shared a poem on Twitter. They praised Vajpayee’s openness, the admiration he received even from his critics and his skills as an orator and poet.
