The Bhatt camp is famous for selling sex and crime in their films. But it looks like this time there will be a slight change. While they may have retained the theme of the poster for Aashiqi 2 from the original, the 1990 hit film Aashiqui, the makers have decided to let go of intimate scenes this time. And by that, they mean no adult scenes throughout the film, as they want it to be a complete family entertainer.

Producer Mahesh Bhatt says, “No nude is good news. This is what I have come to realise these days — even after making several erotic thrillers, which have gone on to become money-spinners, the biggest of all them being Raaz 3.”

So does this mean that he’s going give up making films with sexual content? Mahesh says, “No. I don't intend to abandon the genre completely, but I think it’s time I reclaim my turf, which I had so successfully created with movies like Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991), Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) and Sir (1993). These were complete family films and were U-rated, but well appreciated.”

Talking about Aashiqi 2, the co-producer Bhushan Kumar says, “When I joined hands with Vishesh Films, I had told the entire Bhatt camp that I wanted the USP of the film to be romance and music. I wanted to keep the brand just the way it was originally. I wanted the comeback of Aashiqui to be the highlight and not sexual content.”

He adds, “The original was an out and out love story and there was just one kiss in the entire film. People loved the romance and we wanted to keep that intact, which is why we all agreed upon letting go of adult scenes.”

Aashiqi 2 will star Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
