Actor Boman Irani, who has won accolades for his performances in films including the Munnabhai series and 3 Idiots, says that it was theatre that actually honed his
acting skills.
“There are several people who have done acting or drama classes, but I luckily did 15 years of theatre... that was my training ground and education as an actor,” says Boman, who began his acting career in films at the age of 44. “I can learn the craft of acting by looking at people, observing them... every little thing, every little detail one can learn as an actor purely by observation. Theatre is the best acting school. It really hones your skills,” says Boman.
The 52-year-old actor, who shot to fame in 2003 with his role of a medical college dean in filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s hit film Munnabhai MBBS, will next be in filmmaker Sajid Khan’s romcom, Housefull 2 and Priyadarshan’s film, Tezz.
