Varun Dhawan played an affable guy in Sui Dhaaga and it turns out he is quite the nice guy in real life too. The actor, who had accompanied his father and filmmaker David Dhawan to the polling station during the fourth phase of ongoing 2019 Lok Sabha elections on Monday, was clicked helping an elderly woman climb the steps of the polling station.
The actor was casually dressed in a pair of blue trousers, white T-shirt and a cap. The lady, in a pink printed sari and belt around her waist, looked smilingly at the actor as he held her hand. Her family members also looked at the two with big smiles.
A host of big names from Bollywood stepped out to vote including Amitabh Bachchan with his family members including son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and wife Jaya Bachchan. Actor Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn, Shilpa Shetty, Urmila Matondkar, Priety Zinta, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi also cast their votes.
Varun’s last release Kalank turned out to be a dud at the box office. The multi-starrer had a host of big names including Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit apart from Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapoor. Varun will be seen next in Street Dancer, the third instalment in the ABCD series.
Varun played a character called Zafar and was paired against Alia’s Roop in the film. While the film was panned by critics, Varun did come up for praise for his intense and deeply felt portrayal of Zafar. The film’s songs -- First Class and Ghar More Pardesiya -- too were appreciated.
