Was approached for Bhansali’s Gustaakhiyan two years back, no talks since then: Irrfan

Based on the life of late writer Sahir Ludhianavi, Gustaakhiyan is likely to feature Priyanka Chopra as poetess Amrita Pritam.

Reacting to reports that he walked out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gustakhiyan, Irrfan Khan has clarified that there has been no conversation about the film for past two years. Based on the life of late writer Sahir Ludhianavi, the film is likely to feature Priyanka Chopra as poetess Amrita Pritam.

Irrfan Khan is currently basking in the success of Hindi Medium.

Irrfan told Hindustan Times, “I’m not sure where these rumours are coming from. I was approached for the film almost two years back but since then there’s been no conversation on dates, so how does the question of me not having time or walking out of the film even come from?”

“I think that’s a mystery I would first like to solve that who are these well wishers who are speaking my mind without me even being aware,” he added.

It was reported in January that Sahir’s character will be essayed by Shah Rukh Khan.
